Ch... Ch... Ch... Changes (And, We Have a Winner!)

Imagine David Bowie singing the title.
There, that's better.

So much for blogging on a regular basis.

Something you should know:

I've been promoted to captain (or HBIC) of the Vintage Market Team. Previously, I was the leader in charge of promotions, which included overseeing social media interaction for the team, (Twitter, Facebook, blog) and sales events. Connie, known to many as AntiquesGaloreGal, was our leader for about 18 months and has decided to step down.
I've got very big shoes to fill- she was always available with kind encouragement and words of support.

Hence my inclusion of this photo. This WWI era signed litho hangs in my bedroom. There is something about the fearless dignity of the subject- her selflessness and caring nature make her beautiful.

Connie, you will be missed. I hope I told you enough- you and your time were always very much appreciated by me, as well as the rest of the team.

Here's to a bright future for a wonderful team of vintage sellers!

And what all of you have been waiting to read (okay, the four of you who entered, in spite of the hundreds of RTs)- the contest winner announcement! The winner of the four MCM glasses is... MartyrsAndManiacs (Great name!). Contact me with your address and your glasses will be in the mail.

Until tomorrow... when Wordless (or Wordful, if time allows) Wednesday (probably) resumes.

Framed!

A few days ago, I stumbled across an optician's office chock- full of vintage and retro dead stock glasses frames and sunglasses. Total score!
He had close to 1,000 frames from the early 1950s to the early 1990s, many in perfect condition. Once my heart stopped pounding, I dug through and made some purchases which are currently previewing on my Facebook page. Next, I contacted my pal CollectableSpectacle, a fellow Vintage Market Team member. She was very excited so we agreed to rendezvous the following morning.

Here are some of the results:
Polaroid sunglasses, 1980s.

"Victory" cat-eye frames, with original paperwork!

Are my cheekbones too high or are these frames too big?

We had some fun as well:

Um, not quite right.
Hello, new glasses!

Late 1970s Ted Lapidus sunglasses with gold inner frames- very Tom Ford- esque, no? Did I mention my birthday is only a month away?
Another view, just because. Very subtle, I know.

Dead stock early 1950s 12 K gold plated Christian Dior sunglasses with enamel. Sadly, not for sale, just for drooling. Enamel is shockingly absorbent.
Same era, but with AB stones AND enamel. Yowza!
Don't worry, these wood effect cat-eyes are coming to CollectableSpectacle very soon!
Let's agree to disagree with the witty and wise Dorothy Parker just this once- Guys will make passes at girls in these glasses.

Enjoy your weekend!

Seven months later- recluse blogger reappears!

Hello everyone!
Yes, I am a complete and total dead-beat blogger. This is nothing new. I think about blogging, read cheeky blogs that make me smirk or laugh or cringe and wonder why that can't be me, sharing my life and inner-most thoughts with my three (3!) followers.
No, my blog info isn't listed anywhere on any of my other social media links- perhaps that is a part of the problem. 1400+ Twitter followers and 820+ Facebook fans tolerate my daily randomness, perhaps it is time to really try blogging.
It could be me. I'm creative, super snarky and have an undeniable Summer 2010 addiction to Fudgsicles.
I will not promise you the moon or the stars or a regular blog post, but, in making the effort to be a better blogger (stop rolling your eyes already!), here is a recent interview by Etsy's Vintage Market Team, of which I am a member.
Also, I've changed my blog avatar to my well loved inflatable moose head mascot. Perhaps a new layout to follow. Obviously, I can't commit to too much all at once. Perhaps by Halloween. Or Hannukah.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for tolerating my active lack of blogging.
