Color My Office Beautiful

I've had good and bad experiences with bold wall colors. A bright red bathroom with skylights in the center of a 17' wide row house? Very bad. That same bathroom in a bright electric blue? Amazing. Of course, the tiny bathroom was painted white before the house was put on the market. Snow White, as I recall. I've been quite guilty of choosing paints by name alone (hence the Flaming Sword bathroom of anger- RED ROOM, RED ROOM!). It's never, ever a good idea, just like picking wines based on the label only.

This is the history of Crayola Crayon colors, by date of issue. Exceedingly pleasing. Of course, wall paints come in even larger spectrums. Of amazing depth. Often with horrific names.

You see, I haven't been all that pleased with my photos recently and am looking for a change. After shooting against several paintings, even moving one into my office, I think wall COLOR might be the answer. Choices have been narrowed down- you can add your opinion here. There are plans to pick up a few more paint swatches, perhaps a warm but not too dark blueish- gray among them. So many choices.

So I took a short holiday break. A little less time online, taking photos, sourcing, writing, blogging, and a bit more time relaxing. Realizing that I've been using my Wordless Wednesday posts to simply upload a photo and not actually write a blog post, you are getting both today. Lucky you!



Not the best photo ever. One of my favorite Christmas presents, a framed reprint of a butter- themed German propaganda poster. "gesund und gut mit butter" or "healthful and good with butter". What isn't?

Getting back into the swing of things after some much needed down time, a nice Christmas, a fun New Year's Eve and a decadent New Year's brunch. Not only did I make Christmas dinner (with a store- bought Buche), but hosted about 30 people for brunch the Sunday following New Year's. I'm finally over my bacon- induced hangover. And still eating French toast. For almost every meal. Tackling the remainder of the lox later this week, with eggs and onions.

In an attempt to blog more consistently, I'll be starting Wordless Wednesday.

Why are you reading and not viewing, you wonder? Allow me to explain. There will be a photo posted every Wednesday, something that tickled my fancy. Without further ado...



How do you wear your (retrotrend) vintage?

Didn't think you hear from me this week, did you? Let's see... Yesterday, I reorganized the walk- in closet in my office so that I now can, once again, walk in to it. Overflowing with vintage goodies that were mostly in the right places, sort of.



Short outerwear, skirt suits, mid length coats, some sweaters and purses, oh my!



I eliminated a bookshelf with some packing supplies, instead opting for an area to hang long dresses and gowns.

More hangers are needed. As is more space. Because there are some beautiful holiday items just waiting to post. 

So, through at least tomorrow, every retrotrend item is 25% off. Yup, even stuff that was already on sale. Even newly listed Mid- Century coats, lady- like hand bags and knee high leather boots.
